      Using state-of-the-art editing techniques, special effects, and animation, the Tom Lea Institute presentshis World War II paintings, sketches, and photos synced with the last powerful movement of Shostakovich’s Leningrad Symphony, seen as they have never been seen before. Viewers travel with Lea over 100,000 miles as he documented WWII. Bohuslav Rattay, conductor; Yevgeny Kutik, violinist; Tchaikovsky Concerto for Violin, op. 35 in D Major Shostakovich Symphony No. 7, op. 60 in C major. Multimedia presentation generously sponsored by Southwest Eye Institute. Opening Notes presentation at the Philanthropy Theatre hosted by Dr. James O. Welsch, EPSO assistant conductor, and Holly Packard Cobb, executive director of the Tom Lea Institute. To enhance the experience of the symphony and multimedia presentation, Dr. Welsch and Mrs. Cobb provide background and insight into the music and WWII art of Tom Lea. 6:30 p.m. Free pre-concert presentation.
